  COB 300 Application

Acceptance to the Semester in Antwerp program does not guarantee acceptance into COB 300. You must follow the established pattern to get into COB 300, just the same as if you were taking the course in Harrisonburg. If you are denied admission into COB 300, you may not participate in the Semester in Antwerp program.

Read the guidelines from the Academic Services Center at James Madison University.

You must fill out an application for admission to a JMU College of Business major. You can get the form from the Academic Services Center, or download the form as an MS Word document.

The information below is official information from the JMU Academic Services Center

  Begin Official Information
A student (freshman or transfer student) who is admitted to JMU and indicates a preference for a major in the College of Business will not be automatically admitted to the College of Business. A student desiring a major in a BBA program must formally apply for admission. The application may be submitted upon successful completion of 45 credit hours and while the student is completing the 100- and 200-level BBA courses and their prerequisites. Admission to the College of Business is competitive. At a minimum, a student must meet the following requirements:

  • Completion of all 100- and 200-level BBA core courses and their prerequisites.
  • Attainment of a cumulative grade point average of 2.500 (unrounded) or higher in all courses taken at JMU.
  • Completion of at least 56 credit hours, including all transfer courses accepted by JMU.

Meeting these minimum requirements, however, does not guarantee admission. Final admission decisions are based on resources. The total number of students admitted will be no greater than can be effectively supported with available instructional resources.

Admission to the College permits the student to enroll in COB 300 and to be formally admitted to a major. However, some majors in the College of Business may impose standards that exceed those of the College as a whole. A student must meet both the College of Business requirements and the requirements of the major in which he or she seeks to enroll.

The above requirements do not apply to students who are enrolled in the BS or BA degree program in economics or to those enrolled in the BS degree program in quantitative finance.
