Restaurants and ShoppingShoppingShopping is a long tradition in Antwerp, and today the city is famous for its fashion, jewelry, and antique shops. In the historic city center, on De Keyserlei, Leysstraatand, and Meir shopping streets you will find numerous European chain stores and shopping centers. The beauty of these stores also comes from the architecture of their buildings, which dates back to the 19th century. Meir, a pedestrian only shopping street, also has its own website. The Diamond District placed near the Central Station is famous for its diamonds and jewelry stores. Opposite Central Station is the China Town of Antwerp, where you can find shops selling exotic foods and products. The Wilde Zee is another shopping zone that has fashion stores and shopping galleries such as Den Oudaan and the Nieuwe Gaanderij. Not far away are the Grand Bazar Shopping Center, the Cleynen, and the Grootten Biecorff. Leopoldstraat and St. Jorispoort are shopping streets known for their antique stores. The trendy Zuid neighborhood is also a place for shopping from fashion couture to antiquities.
