Nov 24th: For Project 3, the file loan data file with the link below
needs to be downloaded by right clicking the file and SAVE TARGET AS.
When you save the file, you need to CHNAGE the file extension to .sas7bdat.
Although the file name has a .xls extension, it is incorrect. The file
is actually a permanent SAS dataset, and its file name should end with
.sas7bdat.
The JMU security won't allow me to post files with the .sas7bdat extension, but
it allows the .xls extension. So, when I posted the file, I
simply renamed the extension to .xls even though it is not an Excel file. To
read the file, run the following code, after you have saved the file as
hmda_subset.sas7bdat to a location such as J:\ ,
libname mydat 'J:\';
data one;
set mydat.hmda_subset;
proc contents;
run;
Data files for Project 3 loan data and JEC data and description ( the JEC data file truly is an Excel .xls file)
SAS Snippets I will add to this page helpful blocks of code that some of you can use to organize and clean up your data sets.

Data on many different aspects of the economy esp. federal budget issues, but lots of good state level data. This site is essentially a compilation of lots of data that came from elsewhere, such as the Census Bureau.
