Major in economics
with a concentration
in financial economics
Students who elect a major in economics
(the B.S., the B.A. or the B.B.A.) with a concentration in financial
economics are required to complete the following 36 credit-hour set of
courses:
Principles of Microeconomics
Principles of Macroeconomics
ECON 331: Intermediate Microeconomic Theory
ECON 332: Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory
ECON 372: International Finance
ECON 385: Econometrics
ECON 430: Monetary Theory
ECON 4xx: Any 400-level economics elective
FIN 345: Managerial Finance
FIN 360: Money and Capital Markets
FIN 365: Intermediate Finance
FIN 380: Elemental and Derivative Securities
Effectively, the concentration in
financial economics requires students to substitute the four finance
courses noted above for two economics electives at the 200 or 300-level.
In addition, the concentration in financial economics requires that one of
the 400-level electives be ECON 430. B.B.A. majors are required to take
ECON 345 and are not required to take a second 400-level course. This
concentration requires 36 semester hours of course work.
