Purpose

The Office of Economic Services maintains a permanent data base on national, state and local economics. The information is available at no charge to JMU faculty, staff and students and the local and regional business communities.
The data base contains historic as well as current data on more than 600 different sectors of the U.S. economy. Among the sectors for which monthly, quarterly and annual(seasonally adjusted and unadjusted)figures are available are:


Virginia's Economy

The Office of Economic Services also maintains a wide variety of statistical information on Virginia's economy. Data are available on specific regional and local demographic, industrial and employment trends. A special focus of attention is economic activity in the Shenandoah Valley, including the city of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.
Technical resources in the office are being expanded to permit gathering and maintaining information on worldwide economic activities, particularly in regard to state and local involvement in international trade.
