| An autopatch into the local Staunton, Waynesboro and
Augusta County telephone system is available on the 147.075 VHF
repeater, located on the top of Bear Den Mountain, just off Skyline
Drive, east of Waynesboro, Virginia. This repeater uses an offset of +0.600 MHz, and normally does not require a CTCSS (PL) tone. This repeater covers most of Rockingham, Augusta, and Albemarle Counties, including the cities of Harrisonburg, Waynesboro, Staunton, and Charlottesville. The repeater also covers a good portion of Nelson, Orange, Shenandoah, Page, and part of Rockbridge Counties also. However, the local telephone calling area includes only those numbers in Waynesboro, Staunton, and Augusta County area. This patch differs from most other patches in that subscription to this patch will also provide you with the access codes to activate the "Echolink" system, which patches your mobile 2-meter radio into the Internet, allowing communication with dozens (or hundreds) of hams and access to other repeaters around the world. Hams in the area wishing telephone interconnect service via this repeater should join the Waynesboro Repeater Association of Virginia. Annual dues are $30 per year. To join, or to obtain more information on this patch, the repeater, or Echolink, contact Gordon Batey, WA4FJC, at telephone 540-248-2732 or email GPBataey@compuserve.com.
