Good Afternoon.

Many of us return assignments (particularly homework or short papers) by either handing them to the class and allowing each student to find his/her own paper in the stack or by placing them in boxes outside our offices so that students can retrieve their own papers.  Although this method is efficient, its weakness lies in allowing students to see the grades of their classmates.

In order to avoid having to completely revamp a system that works, I think we can deal with this potential problem through one of two methods:

1.  If the assignment is only a single page, please fold it so that the student's name shows but the grade doesn't.  Stapling the paper will help.

2.  If the assignment is longer than one page, please place the grade on the last page so that it can't be readily seen by someone who is looking through the assignments for his/her own paper.

This approach should preclude our receiving complaints about the ease with which students can see one another's grades.  Thanks in advance for helping resolve this issue.
