WORK EXPERIENCE (NON-ACADEMIC)

 

1986-1990

Fannie Mae, Washington, D.C.

Team leader and senior applications analyst on a variety of projects.  Supervised up to 8 people, using COBOL with a database management system (IDMS) interface with online and batch processing on an IBM mainframe.  Responsibilities included planning, scheduling, user interface, design, development, production support, system efficiency analysis, data conversion, acceptance testing, and user training.

 

1985-1986

U.S. Senate Computer Center, Washington, D.C.

Manager, Analytic Services Group.  Manager in charge of data analysis support for Senate member, committee, and other offices.  Projects included survey and ad hoc statistical analysis projects, online and batch systems. Responsibilities included supervision of up to 7 staff members using statistical languages, COBOL with an online interface (CICS) and other packages on IBM mainframes and PCs.

 

1978-1985

Applied Management Sciences, Silver Spring, MD.

Project leadership on up to three concurrent projects including scheduling, budgeting, and supervision of up to 15 staff members.  Projects were health and education projects as consultants to the federal government.  Responsibilities included proposal writing, budgeting, client interaction, requirements analysis, systems design, implementation, testing, documentation, operations and maintenance.  Formerly team leader, systems analyst and programmer on similar projects.  Projects used COBOL, statistical languages (SAS and SPSS), and online interface methods (TSO and WYLBUR) on IBM mainframes.

COBOL programmer and user liaison for Navy budgeting systems.
