A Severe Mercy by Sheldon Vanauken Life-changing true story.  My undergraduate management professor recommended it to me.  Part of it is set at Lynchburg College in Virginia.
Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis "Lewis is the ideal persuader for the half-convinced, for the good man who would like to be a Christian but finds his intellect getting in the way" A. Burgess, The New York Times Book Review

Managerial Accounting by Garrison and Noreen Weak character development that forces the reader to work, but the storyline is consistently tight.  Look for the movie in 2009!!
Auditing and Assurance Services by Louwers, Ramsay, Sinason, and Strawser The suspense just builds and builds in each chapter.  Resist the temptation to skip ahead and see what happens.  By the end of the book, I feel like I know the author.
Chicken Soup for the Accounting Soul
It will make you laugh.  It will make you cry.  It will make you wish you had your money back.  Not actually a book but I don't think it is beyond the publisher's pride to try it!
The Robe by Lloyd C. Douglas Every rugby player I know (only two actually), that has read this book loves it.
Old Man and the Sea
"It is better to be lucky. But I would rather be exact."
